Should have been a 4-1/2 star overall vehicle
by Farmer on Sunday, October 09, 2022
I owned this SE 4Motion Taos since December 2021. The only attribute keeping this vehicle from being great is the sloppy transmission. The transmission shifts inconsistently causing either jerking of vehicle at low speeds or inadequate acceleration when needed to merge into traffic. These are big safety issues requiring an immediate fix. There are two things you can do to minimize those conditions. Use gasoline rated at 89 octane and customize the normal driving mode by setting the driveline to ECO. This will lessen the occurrence of jerking and hesitation. I have had a full day of the vehicle operating like it should on occasion for unknown reasons. - 1.0
So many problem
by Firstnewcar on Thursday, August 18, 2022
At first I absolutely loved my Taos. I did so much research for my first new car and had saved up so much. Once my car hit 10,000 it started having issues where this EPC light came on and the check engine light. I put the correct gas in the tank as it says 87 or 91. And they came back and said it was ‘bad gas’ and it’s not covered under warranty and vw isn’t coming out and owning the problem. The engine starts stalling, and when it does finally pick up its a huge jolt. I’m getting car sick just driving it to the grocery store. They said that this problem is happening to so many of the Taos models around the US and many Jetta’s as well. They told me I could pay $700 to drain my fuel tank and it ~might~ fix the problem. I haven’t even had my car a year. It’s the 2022 vw Taos SEL AWD. I have almost been hit 3 times now at 4 way stops because my car won’t get up and go and when it finally does it almost makes you hit something because it’s a huge jolt of power. - 5.0
Great vehicle!
by Elderly driver on Sunday, October 20, 2024
Great mileage: 33mpg with my driving. The height is just right for me. I can sit down in it without falling or climbing into the seat and get out without jumping to the ground. Built in a Jetta frame, it's the perfect size for me. It's the quality I expect from VW. Smooth transition from gear to gear as it accelerates. The ACC is quick to recognize vehicles as it approaches them and adjust speed without running up too close.
